About Me

Hi, I'm Luke, owner of Milnes Kitchens & Carpentry.

I started my career in Southport working for a local decking company before moving on to complete my joinery apprenticeship with a local building firm. During that time I gained experience across the full range of residential building work, which still helps me manage projects and solve problems on site today.

After completing my apprenticeship I spent time working in site construction and shop fitting, developing the attention to detail needed for high quality finish work.

In 2008 I joined the Royal Engineers as a Geographic Technician. Unfortunately an injury ended that career earlier than planned and I was medically discharged after five years.

After taking some time to recover and reassess, I returned to the trade and went self-employed again, using the experience I had gained over the years to continue developing my skills.

Alongside residential renovation work I also have experience carrying out commercial and residential fire safety work, including fire door installations and compliance upgrades in flats and shared buildings.

Today I mainly focus on kitchen installations, carpentry and residential renovation work, combining years of hands-on experience with careful project management to deliver high quality results.

My approach

I see kitchens and home improvements as complete projects, not just individual items to sell.

Whether it’s a kitchen renovation, carpentry work, or fire door installation, I focus on bringing everything together so the finished result works properly as a whole. That means looking at the full job. Preparation, services, finishes and installation, rather than pushing one high-priced product.

Most of my work comes from helping clients plan projects properly from the start and costing them realistically, so there are no surprises halfway through. The aim is always the same, good workmanship, clear pricing, and a result that genuinely improves the home.
